Our Goals

Our goal is to have financial transparency. We are working towards a system in which our donors can choose where to donate, and they and our clients can see exactly where their money went. Below you can find more detailed summary of our accounts on the website. Please e-mail us with any questions, comments, complaints, or concerns.

Distribution of Costs

This is a summary of all Weave A Dream costs since we began operation.

"Banking Fees" includes all costs charges by our bank, mostly for transferring money to Guatemala.

La ComUnidad is a fair trade organization that works with Puente de Amistad, a micro-finance institute located in Panajachel. Weave A Dream has purchased jewelry from women's cooperatives through La ComUnidad. Their website

Since Miriam Ujpan Navichoc is also continuing her education, part of our costs include a salary for her, based on these costs.

Other WaD programs include workshops that WaD scholars participate in before their awards and miscellaneous costs on the ground in Guatemala.

Payments to Ixoqui Ajkeemaa' includes all our payments for fair trade products to the Mayan women's weaving cooperative Ixoqui Ajkeemaa'. Read more about them in our "featured artist" page.

Scholarships is strictly the money given directly to students to subsidize the costs of education. For more information, please see our "programs" page.

Miscellaneous costs include legal fees for non-profit status in New York, shipping costs and other small expenses.
